Renal replacement therapy (RRT) is a treatment option for ESRD. It consists of either dialysis or kidney transplantation. Dialysis consists of either peritoneal dialysis or hemodialysis. Both can be done at home while only hemodialysis can be performed in a center. Kidney transplantation offers improved survival and mortality and can be the right choice for many patients.
